What is Assisted Living?
Assisted living at McKnight Place is a form of residential care designed for older adults who may need support with activities of daily living, sometimes called ADLs. These can include bathing, dressing, grooming, mobility, and medication reminders.
At McKnight Place, our assisted living residents benefit from:
- Personalized assistance with activities of daily living
- Professional medication management
- 24-hour nursing availability
- Engaging wellness programs and social activities
- Scheduled transportation
- Restaurant-style dining
- Beautiful common areas and gathering spaces
Some older adults with advanced Alzheimer’s disease, significant cognitive changes, or complex medical conditions or disabilities may require a different level of care, such as memory care or skilled nursing care. Understanding the distinction between care options is an important part of making a confident decision. If you are comparing senior living options, we encourage you to learn more about the difference between independent living and assisted living communities, as well as how assisted living compares to other long-term care settings.

Is Assisted Living Right for My Family or Me?
Every family’s situation is unique. Changes in health, mobility, or safety often happen gradually, and recognizing evolving care needs can take time.
Many families begin by exploring home health or home care services. While those supports can be helpful, there often comes a point when a residential care environment like McKnight Place provides greater consistency, safety, and social connection.
Moving to an assisted living community does not mean giving up independence. In fact, many assisted living residents find that receiving support actually improves their quality of life. With fewer daily burdens and access to enriching programs, wellness initiatives, and welcoming common areas, residents often experience renewed confidence and community. If you are worried about a loved one’s safety, health, or overall well-being, exploring assisted living can be a positive and proactive step for the entire family.

Understanding the Cost of Assisted Living
One of the most common questions families ask is about the cost of assisted living and how it compares to other senior living options.
Costs across senior living communities can vary widely depending on:
- Apartment size, including whether a private room is selected
- The level of care required
- The structure of pricing tiers and add-ons
- Geographic location
Nationally, the average cost of assisted living continues to rise, and many assisted living providers use tiered pricing models that increase as medical care needs change. McKnight Place offers Predictable Pricing with true, all-inclusive fixed monthly rates. Our assisted living apartments start at $10,650 per month. This structure is designed to reduce uncertainty and eliminate complex pricing tiers, helping families plan with greater confidence.
McKnight Place is a private-pay community.
We accept some long-term care insurance (LTC) policies for skilled nursing and assisted living, and traditional Medicare may help cover medical services as part of a resident’s short-term care plan. We do not accept Medicaid across any of our services. Once again, we want to stress that McKnight Place is a private-pay community, but we encourage family members to speak with their health insurance providers, financial advisors, or the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) for additional information on financial assistance, annuities, or life insurance options that may help cover long-term care.
