Chef Derrick Davis, McKnight Place Extended Care’s Executive Chef, discovered his love for cooking at just 14 years old while working alongside his grandfather at the family’s beloved BBQ restaurant. Inspired by those early experiences, he pursued formal training at L’École Culinaire in Ladue, Missouri, graduating at the top of his class in 2008.
Following graduation, Chef Derrick quickly rose through the culinary ranks, eventually earning the role of Executive Chef at Ruskin O’Brian’s. Though he found success in the restaurant world, a turning point came when his grandfather fell ill. After his passing, Derrick felt a calling to leave the fast-paced restaurant scene behind in favor of something more meaningful.
Today, Chef Derrick brings that same heart and heritage to McKnight Place. His goal is simple but powerful: to serve food that not only nourishes but comforts—just like his grandfather used to.
