Alzheimer’s Association Walk Set for Oct. 27
There Are Several Ways to Support the McKnight Place Team
Join Us for the Walk
McKnight Place Assisted Living & Memory Care is proud to participate in the annual Alzheimer’s Association’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s. The two-mile walk — on Sunday, Oct. 27 — begins with registration at Noon, followed by an opening ceremony at 1 p.m. Participants should meet at the Enterprise Center, 1401 Clark Avenue, St. Louis, 63103.
Support the Mission
The McKnight Place team will be walking to help raise awareness about this devastating disease while fueling the mission to cure it. Staff members know firsthand how difficult this disease is, and they invite anyone to be part of the team.
Those who support the mission will help ensure a better future for McKnight Place residents and their loved ones. Supporters can participate in the walk and/or make a financial donation by visiting http://act.alz.org/goto/walkmcknightplace.
The Facts & Figures
More than five million Americans live with Alzheimer’s disease, and, by 2050, the number could increase to 16 million. Alzheimer’s is the sixth-leading cause of death in the United States, and it’s the only cause in the top 10 that can’t be prevented, cured or slowed.
Every 66 seconds, another American is affected by the disease. In fact, the number of deaths due to Alzheimer’s disease has increased by 89 percent since 2000. One in three seniors dies with Alzheimer’s or another form of dementia.
The Walk to End Alzheimer’s is the world’s largest event dedicated to raising awareness and funds. More than 600 U.S. communities participate annually, with walkers raising funds earmarked for the care and support of those with Alzheimer’s and further research.
Your Help Matters
The Walk to End Alzheimer’s has a motto: “The end of Alzheimer’s starts with you.”
